KARNATAKA HOUSING BOARD(KHB)
KHB Overview: The Karnataka Housing Board was established
by legislation in 1962 as a farsighted move to satisfy the
increasing housing needs of the people. Over the decades,
KHB has provided housing to 1.10 lakh families. It is the
only housing agency, which has completed 950 schemes spread
over the entire state. The board has taken up diverse roles
to provide housing to different segments. Unlike privately
developed housing layouts, KHB townships and layouts meet
standard norms of town planning and land usage.
KHB Housing plan 2000 – 100 Housing Project scheme being implemented
Peenya housing Project, Bangalore for State Govt. Employees:
It is proposed to build 4000 dwelling units (multistoried
apartments) in 80 acres of land in Peenya.
Bangalore International Convention Center: International standard
Convention Center around 20kms from city. It is near the proposed
site for the Bangalore International airport, Devanahalli.
Major Housing Projects and commercial plazas on joint venture
basis is poposed in districts like Gadag, Mangalore, Udupi,
Mandya, Bagalkot .For these housing projects, KHB is in possession
of required land. The proposed township will be self-contained
with all urban and civic amenities.
Chairman and 13 member Board head KHB. The Board consists
of 8 official and 5 non-official members. The Housing Commissioner,
appointed by the Government is the Chief Executive and Administrative
Officer of the Board and a member of the Board.
KHB Quality Standards:
KHB would like to bring more transparency in its operations.
Hence it has opened up new wings like customer relation cell,
property management and project management units to cater
to the needs of the customer. It would like to ensure that
all the townships maintain quality of highest standards. All
townships will be self contained with all urban and civic
amenities, and will include rain water harvesting, water recycling,
tertiary treatment, developed open spaces and parks, and infrastructure
for health, education and recreation.
KHB Quality Objective:
To satisfy the need of housing accommodation, make such Projects
/ schemes and carryout such works as are necessary for the
